My stepfamily just moved to town and my stepfather encouraged me to—that is, he told me to—try out for the wrestling team. I’m not big enough for baseball, let alone football, but wrestling has weight classes, so my size isn’t a problem. Actually, the team only has one other guy in my division, so it turned out to be an advantage. My stepdad says being an athlete is a good way to make new friends and it would make me less likely to be picked on.
