My name’s Blond, James Blond - and I can’t begin to describe how long I’ve wanted to be an Elite Scout. Ever since joining the scouts, it’s been my mission. I used to see them, with their special pins, seeming so grown-up and worldly-wise, chatting to the scoutmasters like buddies, staying up later than us mere mortals, going on what seemed like the most dangerous missions into the forest and coming back the next morning looking like they’d had the best adventure. When I heard that I’d been selected for the honor, I couldn’t contain my excitement. Of course I played it real cool, pretending to take it all in my stride, but I was literally turning cartwheels inside!I couldn’t wait to take the pledge. It’s a really secret ceremony; just a scoutmaster and the scout in one of the larger tents if you’re out in the wild, or in the scout hut office if it’s during the winter. When I discovered that my ceremony was due to be overseen by Scoutmaster Stone, I was overjoyed. He is, without question, my favorite scoutmaster. He’s always kept an eye out for me and calls me stepson, which I like a lot.
